The Community

So lately I’ve been working on my first release, a little remix EP (4 – 5 tracks), which I’m probably going to call “Finally Home”.
I’ve so far remixed Lana Del Rey (she is SO hot), The XX, and a band called BlahBlahWoofWoof from the land of Soundcloud. I’m having a lot of fun making it, and discovered my love of remixing things in the process. I find it’s just as fun, if not even more so, as making a beat. And I don’t care what anyone says the creative process is in no way limited by the fact you’re using an already made track.
Unfortunately none of them are official remixes, so I never got the chance to work with any stems (mainly I would’ve liked to have messed with vocals), but that also became a good thing, as I learnt how to EQ a little better and pull vox out of tracks! Not very cleanly I’ll admit but it works. I’m aiming to release it within the next few weeks.

In other news, I’ve been approached to play regular sets/DJ at a club that will be opening here soon in Brisbane, which I’m extremely happy about! I can’t really say much more then that until it’s all finalised, but things are looking up!
On top of that, I recently got given an Impulse 25 (Midi controller with pads) for my 21st, which opened up a whole new world for me production wise.
Now I can tap out drums on the pads and play keys with an actual midi, instead of using the same keyboard I’m typing this with haha. I’ve already made a beat using the pads as well as a little feel good synth heavy track that you see below.
