Free Oldies

Thursday January 19th, 2012 by YLEM

Hey peeps,

I have been going through my old hardrives and came across a bunch of tunes. Some i’d forgotten that i actually made, but there’s some vibes on these tracks that i think are worth sharing. Unfortunately, I dont have the original project file for them as they were on a laptop which died a sudden and drastic death… or else i’d probably go back and rework/remix or takes parts from them or whatevs… These tunes were the fortunate ones in making it off that laptop!

Anyway, checkout the player to cop some free dl’s. Hope y’all enjoy!

'Many Faces' series : 'Warrior' print

About ‘Many Faces’ :

The Many Faces of femme fatale.

Striking colours and shapes embellish her beauty and sexual allure, and worn as an extrovert armour she is seemingly assertive. Her physical appearance is manifest in a balance between Masculine and Feminine characteristics which both strong jaw line and high cheek bones reveal. Historical insinuations of the Military-esque hat or Goddess-like hairstyles inform the choice of role-play for a variety of social occasions.

This print series is the inaugural result of my visual inquiry into Ego Masks; from the Magical Mystery tour that is my art practice and ah, life. Tune in for more.

Venice Biennale: ILLUMInations

Wednesday January 11th, 2012 by Jenn Garland

Just got back from  Europe and managed to check out the  Venice Biennale for the first time, which is a massive International arts festival held every 2 years since 1895. It’s an amazing showcase of some of the best contemporary art the world has to offer, which you often don’t get a chance to see in little ol’ Perth.

With so many great artworks its hard to pick favourites, but I thought I’d share some photos here of standout pieces.

Nathaniel Mellors, Hippy dialect, UK

Animatronic talking heads linked by long hair, in a sprawling video installation of absurd soap-opera ‘Ourhouse’ about language & culture.

2012!

Monday January 2nd, 2012 by Able8

2011 was a great year and I’m looking forward to what this year entails…

Some highlights for me this year were..

Travelling/Hanging out and Touring Europe/KL

Supporting DJ Krush to a packed crowd, plus a bunch of other great gigs

Revamping my live set, and finally converting to the Macbook world

Changed my name for most projects to Able8

Writing new tunes with overseas artists like Black Cracker, Benny Diction, Beit Nun and MC Points

Expanding Uncomfortable Beats from a one-man operation, into a small team of awesome people

I also managed to finish a remix for Wermonster (Berlin) by Christmas and that should be released soon, and a track I did with Black Cracker (NYC) is hopefully being released for free with VICE Magazine (US) as an exlusive.. So I’m fairly excited for that!

2012 and my plans for world domination…

What I plan to achieve

RELEASES: Able & Manix Album // Able8 xGhostsoul EP // Axolotl EP // Able8 & Benny Diction EP

Syreneyiscreamy & Able8 EP // Abe – Future Of Rap Album // Uncomfortable Beats #2 // Able8 EP

Uncomfortable Beats – Bigger and better events, and starting online music Distribution + Promotion.

And a New Tour .for June/July..Europe again I’m thinking

:)

Wish me luck coz I’ll need it!

x
