The Bible Bashers latest release ‘Cray Bait / Swan Dive’ gets its official launch at the Rosemount Hotel on Friday December 16th with a veritable variety of support acts running the gamut of genres – from perth hip hop wordsmith Mathas, man eatin’ full tilt rock n roll of The Sure Fire Midnights, dub-reggae blowout champions The Weapon is Sound and the mariachi version of Grim fandango – Grim Fanbanjo!

The Bashers are never short on tricks up their sleeve so for this one you can damn well expect to see the band to be joined on stage by THE BASTARD CHOIR and THE BASHETTES…

Also joining them once again will be Lady Chelsea Bunz and Black Betty of CARNIES WITH CANDY!

The ‘CRAY BAIT/ SWAN DIVE’ CD* will be available on CD on the night and includes a free mp3 download of the the track. Both tracks are a testament to the bashers pull-the-piss attitude and offer a unique perspective on the Australian life style while delivering a unholy dose of their punk, rock and swamp doctrine.

The tracks are part of a recording session done with guru Al Smith of Bergerk Studios. The next release “The Butcher Bird” will also feature tracks ‘Dole Day’ and ‘Buy Me A Drink’ is scheduled for Feb/march release to coincide with the bands QLD tour.

THE BIBLE BASHERS have been peddling their filthy brand of blues-infested rock’n'roll since 2008. Their music is a deadly dose of Australian swamp rock, influenced by such iconic acts as Beasts of Bourbon, The Stooges and AC/DC. Famous for their audacious, no-prisoners live performances, they’ve been a persistent thorn in the side of the local music scene.

June 2010 saw the release of their eponymous EP, recorded by The Reverend Max Ducker of Cellar Sessions Studios. Featuring 7 sordid tales of downright depravity, Many of which finding their way on to local compilations. Self-funded, released & distributed, THE BIBLE BASHERS EP has been circulating your town like a bad batch of acid.

Since the release of their EP, these drunken gods of mischief have racked up a long list of noteworthy achievements and dubious honours. They released the notorious “Wine Haemorrhage” music video, hijacked Mongrel Country’s tour of Melbourne, printed two of their very own ‘zines full of their low brow lyrics n deviant art and shared the stage with Kim Salmon(Scientists), Six Ft Hick (QLD), The Stabs (VIC), The Dead South (VIC) and Buzz Deluxe (Canada). Not to mention a seemingly never ending schedule of shows over the years and a 2010 WAMI nomination for Best Punk Act.

Never ones to fall back on tired formula, they’ve spiced up their gigs with all manner of low down, low brow antics including; recruiting impromptu choirs (The Bashettes & The Bastard Choir) to join them on stage, handing out their own currency (Bash Cash) and even going so far as to fake their own break up (The Last Temptation of the Bible Bashers), an ingenious publicity stunt which is had fans and media alike completely fooled.

Ain’t no doubt, these holy rollers are here to kick-start a glorious new age of decadence n’ depravity.

Bold, experimental and dark, Shabazz Palaces are a hip hop trio lead by Palaceer Lazaro, also known as Ishamel “Butterfly” Butler of Digable Planets. The project emerged onto the scene bearing a sense of mystery about them, much like the magnificent electro-synth taps and unhinged drum beats which lay amongst their cryptic lyrics. In 2010, the group gave a rare interview to Pitchfork, who named the band in their ‘Rising’ section, which names notable acts on the rise.

In Seattle, you can’t escape the hype surrounding Shabazz Palaces, and their first LP ‘Black Up’, released through the revered SUB POP Label in July 2011, although a long time in the making, is an astounding record proving them to be more than worthy. On ‘Black Up’ they still work as straight-up head knock rap and are as visceral as anything, making smart, tough music.

Often considered to be art-rap, Shabazz Palaces are forward thinkers who remain nostalgic for a sparer time and have worked to take Hip hop to an unearthed height. If Bedouins herded beats instead of goats and settled in Seattle instead of the Atlas Mountains, this would certainly be their album.

On January 15, Lazaro is bringing his retro futurist vision to The Bakery, performing LIVE for one night only with stellar local support from Cosmo Gets, Mathas and Ben M.

The White Sugar filmclip is a swirling journey through a vicious candyland, were ripe raspberries and chico babies go for the throat and the product advertising of yesteryear repeats in a droning, endless loop. The only way forward is towards total zombification and a posse of buzzword angels on your shoulder lulling you to a lolly-encrusted catatonia.

I totally deserve to win the double pass for Ghostpoet on Sunday for many reasons but mainly because i broke my foot doing spin kicks in my garage..little did i know that there were various dumb bells to avoid. The reason for my flailing kicks was that i was pretending to be a Shaolin monk crossed with a metalcore scene kid.

Tomas Ford owns you. He will be making sure the dance floor stays remains fluid and sometimes a little awkward throughout the evening.
